A QUICK GUIDE
Our oil pumpkins grow at the foot of Riegersburg Castle. Our trusted local oil mill regularly processes fresh batches of seeds.
Protected Geographical Indication (PGI, or g.g.A. in German) stands for verified origin and production. Each white-and-green seal carries an individual control number.
The seeds are dried, ground, roasted and pressed, developing their distinctive nutty flavour and delicate roasted notes.
Store tightly closed and upright at room temperature, away from light and heat. Do not refrigerate. Use promptly after opening and follow the bottle label.
PRODUCTION IN SIX STEPS
The seeds are removed from the pumpkins, washed and gently dried.
At the oil mill, the dried seeds are ground into a fine meal.
The seed meal is mixed with water and salt to form an even paste.
Slow heating develops the characteristic nutty, roasted aromas.
The prepared paste is pressed, releasing the dark green pumpkin seed oil.
The oil is left to rest so suspended particles can settle, then bottled.
